DMR certifies four state saltwater records
Four state saltwater records were certified Tuesday by the state Commission on Marine Resources during their monthly meeting.Two records were recreational saltwater conventional tackle and two were recreational saltwater fly fishing tackle.
Cecily O'Brien of Pascagoula broke the state conventional record for gray triggerfish with an 11-pound, 3.96-ounce fish caught on Oct. 12, 2013. The old record was 9 pounds, 7.33 ounces set Aug. 5, 2007, by Matthew L. Lamore.
Hyler Krebs of Pascagoula broke the state conventional record for spotfin hogfish with a 12.64-ounce fish caught on Oct. 9, 2013. The old record was 10.4 ounces, set June 1, 2008, by Thomas Riley Hunt.
Reed Guice of Biloxi broke the 11-year-old state fly fishing record for dolphin by more than 6 pounds with a 9-pound, 7.88-ounce fish caught on Oct. 16, 2013. The old record was 3 pounds, 2.9 ounces set July 4, 2002, set by Ivan Strayham. Guice now owns two saltwater flyfishing state records.
Doug Borries of Ocean Springs broke his own state fly fishing record for red snapper with a 26-pound, 9-ounce fish caught on Oct. 13, 2013. He eclipsed his old record of 12 pounds, 2.9 ounces set June 2, 2009, by more than double and gives him 14 state saltwater fly fishing records

DMR Doug Borries of Ocean Springs broke a Mississippi recreational saltwater fly fishing tackle record with a Red Snapper weighing 26 pounds, 9 ounces.
