Moss Point head football coach, athletic director position officially re-opened

The head football coach/athletic director job at Moss Point High School has officially been re-opened, with the opening posted on the school district's website.

Longtime assistant Ed East served as interim football coach this past season, leading the Tigers to a 2-9 record and fourth place in Region 8-4A. Moss Point lost 35-14 at Columbia in the first round of the playoffs.

Kevin Jackson was Moss Point's last full-time head coach and AD, leading the Tigers to a 9-13 record in two seasons from 2011-12. He resigned in May to take the East Marion job, and MPHS officials elected to install East as interim football coach and delegate athletic administrative duties to front-office personnel.
By state law, the position must be posted publicly for 10 working days before interviews can begin. It was not immediately known whether or not East plans to pursue the position on a full-time basis.
