Pascagoula track team wins $4,000 in video contest
The Pascagoula High School track team received a $4,000
check Wednesday, the prize for winning a contest with a video the team
produced for the "Powerade Power Up Your School" contest.
Contestants were asked to submit either a 3-minute video or a written essay as to "Why your school needs to be powered up with $4,000."
The contest was open to all Coast schools and was advertised on 107.1 The Monkey.
The team chose to make a video, with the help of their Gold Medal Booster Club, titled "Pascagoula Track Team Runs with Heart."
The video shows team members talking about the reasons they compete with heart every day, and clips of the athletes competing last season.
Results of the other winning schools have not been announced yet.
The track team's prize will pay for new equipment, new uniforms, travel expenses related to the organization, or other gear for the team that for the 2013-14 season, according to contest guidelines.
