Pascagoula High's Logan Eckert, 16, remembered as 'a happy kid with lots of friends'

PASCAGOULA, Mississippi -- Logan Eckert, a 16-year-old sophomore at Pascagoula High School killed in a single-car accident early Saturday morning, enjoyed disc golf, four-wheeling and watching racing, and was a "happy kid with a lot of friends," according to his mother Lisa Eckert.

"He had been hanging out with his friends and was on his way home," Lisa Eckert said. "We don't know what happened or why. It was confirmed to us no alcohol or drugs were involved."

Logan Eckert's wake and funeral services have been scheduled for Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Pascagoula.
"Logan liked to play disc golf with his friends and he liked four-wheeling and watching racing," Lisa Eckert said. "He was a happy kid with a lot of friends. Everybody knew him."
Eckert was a passenger in a Ford Mustang driven by 18-year-old Dustin Johnson, who Lisa Eckert described as "his best friend." The other passengers where Nickolas Martin, 15, and Cassidy Lambert, 15.
Johnson and Lambert were taken to Singing River Hospital for medical treatment. Johnson was treated and released and Lambert remains in ICU at the hospital in stable but guarded condition, hospital spokesman Richard Lucas said. Martin was released to his parents.
Pascagoula Police Capt. Shannon Massey said police received a call this morning at 1:38 of an accident at Washington Ave. and Warren Street.
